Overview
This is a senior finance leadership opportunity within a fast-growing, UK-based services business backed by a leading Private Equity investor. The organisation operates in a contract-led, operationally complex environment and is executing an active buy-and-build strategy to accelerate growth and value creation.
Role summary
Reporting directly to the CFO, the Group Financial Controller will own the group finance function, providing strong financial governance, technical leadership, and commercial support in a PE-backed, acquisitive context. The role carries high visibility and influence, with responsibility for group reporting, consolidation, acquisition integration, and finance transformation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Group finance function, managing a team of approximately six
- Own the group consolidation process across multiple legal entities, with scope expanding through acquisition
- Deliver timely and accurate statutory accounts, audits, and regulatory compliance
- Establish and maintain robust financial controls, governance frameworks, and reporting standards
- Lead acquisition accounting and support post-deal integration of newly acquired businesses
- Partner with the CFO on execution of the PE-backed buy-and-build strategy
- Oversee revenue recognition in a contract-based environment, including accrued and deferred income
- Drive continuous improvement in finance systems, processes, and data quality
- Play a key role in finance systems development, including integration of new contract management tools
- Act as a commercial finance partner to operational leadership, supporting decision-making and performance
To Be Suitable
- Proven experience as a Group Financial Controller or equivalent senior finance role
- Strong background in PE-backed businesses, ideally within a buy-and-build or acquisitive model
- Experience operating within PLC, highly regulated, or similarly robust governance environments
- Deep understanding of contract-based revenue models, including accrued and deferred revenue accounting
- Demonstrable experience of group consolidations across multiple entities
- Hands‑on acquisition accounting and M&A integration experience
- Strong statutory accounting and audit background
- Experience within facilities management, professional services, or related sectors advantageous
- Exposure to finance system transformation or implementation preferred
- Comfortable working in an Excel‑heavy finance environment
- A confident, detail‑oriented leader with strong stakeholder management skills and commercial acumen
