Cyber Security Architect – Gloucester (Hybrid)

Location: Gloucester, South Gloucestershire, United Kingdom. Work type: Hybrid (minimum 3 days a week on site, 37‑hour working week).

Key Responsibilities

• Begin as a Cyber Security Engineer and develop skills, experience, and exposure needed to move into architecture.
• Work closely with experienced security architects and engineers to design and secure systems.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of secure systems to meet HMG security requirements.
• Participate in managing complex technology estates with differing risk profiles.

Essential Experience

• Experience in cybersecurity, infrastructure, or systems engineering.
• Background in roles such as Security Engineer, Systems Engineer, Network Engineer, or SOC Analyst (with strong technical depth).
• Strong understanding of networking (TCP/IP, firewalls, segmentation), operating systems (Windows/Linux), identity and access management concepts, and cloud fundamentals.
• Exposure to security tooling (SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR).
• Strong understanding of core security principles such as defense‑in‑depth, least privilege, and zero‑trust concepts.
• Experience managing complex technology estates with differing risk profiles.

Desirable Information

• Information‑security related certifications such as Security+, CISSP, CISM, GSEC, SSCP.
