About The Role

Birmingham City Council is seeking a passionate and proactive Tenant Participation Officer to join our Housing Department. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our tenants by empowering them to shape the services they receive and strengthen their communities.

You will play a key role in developing and delivering tenant engagement strategies, supporting tenant groups, and ensuring that residents have a meaningful voice in housing-related decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement tenant participation initiatives across Birmingham’s housing estates.
  • Support and facilitate tenant and resident groups, forums, and panels.
  • Promote inclusive engagement, ensuring diverse voices are heard and represented.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to improve service delivery.
  • Monitor and evaluate participation activities, reporting on outcomes and impact.
  • Organise and attend community events, consultations, and workshops.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about community engagement and tenant empowerment.
  • Experienced in working with diverse communities and stakeholder groups.
  • A confident communicator with excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills.
  • Organised, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple projects.
  • Knowledgeable about housing services and local government structures (desirable).

Essential Requirements

  • Experience in community development, tenant engagement, or a related field.
  • Ability to travel across Birmingham for meetings and events.
