Water Regulations Officer

Permanent, 36 hours per week, location Essex – Sandon Valley House, Hanningfield – Hybrid. Salary up to £40,400 (depending on experience).

About The Role

Join our busy team based at Hanningfield, near Chelmsford. You will provide expert advice and support to customers in line with the latest legislation, reporting to the Water Regulations Team Leader. Your duties will include inspecting water supply systems within industrial and commercial premises, promoting, educating, and enforcing water regulations, reviewing new supply applications, monitoring alterations for compliance, and preparing technical reports recorded using current IS systems.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections of water supply systems as per inspection programme.
  • Review new supply applications and formulate responses with NWL conditions of supply.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance for alterations to existing water systems.
  • Prepare and maintain technical reports, notifying relevant parties of completed documentation.
  • Apply Health & Safety policies to ensure a safe working environment.

Qualifications

  • Self‑motivated, able to work independently with initiative.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to explain water system technicalities.
  • Team‑oriented, supporting compliance with Water Regulations.
  • Full, valid driving licence (van provided).
  • Recognised plumbing, engineering, or Water Supply Regulation 1999 qualification is an advantage.

Safety & Security

This role is designated as safety or security critical; a formal offer includes a drug and alcohol test prior to or within four weeks of start date. Failure may lead to revocation of the offer.
