Delivery Lead – Low Code Technology & Operational Platforms
London, United Kingdom
Job Description
Who we’re looking for
Delivery Leads are accountable for ensuring teams deliver value consistently and effectively.
You create and maintain the conditions for delivery success: clear objectives, iterative plans, and motivated teams working at a sustainable pace. You focus on outcomes, ensuring the right balance between business priorities and technical quality while proactively managing dependencies, addressing risks, and removing impediments.
Equally at ease with business stakeholders and technical engineers, you bring credibility and challenge where needed, using agile and lean practices to improve flow and collaboration. Above all, you are pragmatic — adapting approaches to context, prioritising what delivers the most value, and recognising that sustained delivery depends on both mindset and discipline.
About Schroders
We’re a global investment manager. We help institutions, intermediaries and individuals around the world invest money to meet their goals, fulfil their ambitions, and prepare for the future.
We have around 5,000 people on six continents. And we’ve been around for over 200 years but keep adapting as society and technology changes. What doesn’t change is our commitment to helping our clients, and society, prosper.
Technology at Schroders
There’s a huge amount of change going on at Schroders. Technology’s shaping our business more and more, so there are many opportunities waiting to be grabbed. And because we’re a big financial player, we can put hefty backing behind good ideas.
We’re a serious business – we have enormous responsibilities to our clients and shareholders. But just because we’re suited and booted, that doesn’t make us stuffy; our tech teams are friendlier and more informal than you might expect.
The base
We moved into our new HQ in the City of London in 2018. We’re close to our clients, in the heart of the UK’s financial centre. And we have everything we need to work flexibly.
The team
Our Group Operating Platform Technology team supports the full client and product event lifecycle, spanning onboarding, transaction processing, reconciliation and reporting. The role sits within a function responsible for both the day‑to‑day operation of our existing application estate and the delivery of change, including enhancement and build of new capabilities through strategic initiatives. You will lead multiple teams and concurrent workstreams, driving modernisation and continuous improvement by applying appropriate, up‑to‑date technology to strengthen our platforms and ways of working.
What you’ll do
- Responsible for the delivery of a backlog of work associated with one or more products or change initiatives of varied complexity though one or more teams.
- Build and maintain motivated teams with your product and engineering peers, making sure there is an iterative plan to work towards the regular delivery of value that’s balanced between technical improvement and change.
- Coach the team and those with influence upon them. Apply the most appropriate agile and lean tools and techniques and facilitate continuous improvement.
- Proactively manage risks and dependencies, overcome obstacles, and get the best value against constraints.
- Proactively manage governance considerations, ensuring transparency and alignment with operational and quality standards.
- You’ll facilitate collaborative sessions and workshops that align teams and stakeholders using insight, evidence, and prioritisation discipline.
- Protect the team and make sure they are able to collaborate, communicate effectively, and focus on what is most important.
- Facilitate the capture and analysis of metrics to provide appropriate insights to the team and their stakeholders, using data and context to demonstrate progress and improvement.
- Work with your analysts and stakeholders to help the team get closer to the needs of users, and understand the problem space – ensuring the team and the stakeholders are aligned.
- You’ll develop and support the people around you, helping them grow in capability and confidence, and fostering a culture of accountability, curiosity, and continuous learning.
- Work in close collaboration with your engineering and product counterparts – sharing the responsibility for managing those in your teams to support their in‑role development and career progression.
- Collaborate with and contribute to the delivery community, helping to define best good practice and contributing to the ongoing improvement to our ways of working.
- Support the smooth running of teams with administrative activities such as budgeting and forecasting.
- You’ll maintain accurate documentation, data, and artefacts to support transparency, governance, and finances.
The knowledge, experience, and qualifications you need
- Experience of leading and motivating multiple cross‑functional teams towards a shared outcome and creating the right environment for them to work effectively, empowering them to deliver.
- Experience influencing developers, QAs, analysts, and product leads in the adoption and appropriate application of agile ways of working.
- Experience managing multiple initiatives – helping teams provide transparency of their work and their capacity and fostering effective collaboration between teams and stakeholders.
- The tenacity to remove bottlenecks and impediments to efficient delivery.
- Experience creating agile metrics and reporting – understanding the difference between leading and lagging indicators and the optimum usage of them.
- Knowledge and experience of the full software development lifecycle.
- Excellent communication and influence skills, with the ability to navigate complex and senior stakeholder networks.
- Experience of working in operations in an asset or investment management context is desirable.
- Experience of working with low‑code platforms e.g. Outsystems, Xceptor, Power Platform, Alteryx.
What you’ll be like
- A natural servant leader who models agile ways of working and inspires others.
- Friendly, approachable and collaborative, with a genuine respect for diverse perspectives.
- An effective communicator who adapts with tact, sensitivity, and clarity.
- Comfortable using both business and technology terms.
- Proactive, resilient, and able to thrive in fast‑paced, time‑critical environments while maintaining a positive and enthusiastic outlook when under pressure.
- Respect the authority of business stakeholders and the direction provided by senior people but are capable of being objective and comfortable providing constructive challenge.
- Hold yourself accountable, dealing fairly with everyone and demonstrating integrity.
- Hands‑on and willing to get involved in any task to ensure successful outcomes.
- Natural curiosity about how the business works and rapid contextual understanding.
- Collaborative and influential, able to align stakeholders and shape priorities amid ambiguity.
- Pragmatic and adaptable, balancing ambition with delivery pace and organisational readiness.
