Specialist 1-to-1 Study Skills Support (ASC) | Autism Support

Location: Norwich

Rate of Pay: £28 per hour + £3.38 accrued holiday pay

Contract: Part-time, with flexible hours

Start Date: September 2026 (for the new 2026/2027 Academic Year)

As a Specialist 1-to-1 Study Skills Support Worker, you will provide learning support and academic guidance. This includes creating an individual learning plan tailored to the student’s needs and encouraging them to become an independent learner.

Responsibilities

  • Develop independence
  • Build on strengths and learning strategies
  • Create strategies around organisation and time management
  • Create action plans to stay on track with studies
  • Build on research skills – widening knowledge by using a variety of sources
  • Distinguish appropriate sources and how to correctly use references
  • Build on comprehension skills within reading and writing

Requirements for the role

All students you will support are funded by the Disabled Students Allowance (DSA), so you must meet the qualification framework set out by the DfE. Candidates must be qualified to an undergraduate degree level (Level 6 minimum), hold a teaching qualification, and have completed extensive training in adult autism.

The extensive training may include:

  • 6 National Autistic Society Modules (non‑medical helper package)
  • The Optimum Training Course: Autism and ADHD in Higher Education – Recognising and addressing the barriers through Non‑Medical Helper (NMH) Mentoring and Study Skills Strategies
