Integration & Systems Validation (ISV) – Weapon System Simulation
Exciting opportunity to join the Integration and Systems Validation (ISV) team within the Weapon System Simulation and Experimentation (WSSE) department. Join us in driving innovation and excellence in the field by providing systems integration and testing for digital simulation and experimentation products in a dynamic and growing area.
Salary: Circa £42,000 – £50,000 depending on experience.
Working arrangements: Hybrid – 3–4 days per week on site due to workload classification.
Security clearance: British Citizen or a dual UK national with British citizenship. Required BPSS checks.

About the role
The ISV team ensures our simulation products are rigorously tested, fit‑for‑purpose and ready for delivery. The role is dynamic and fast‑paced, working on rapid mini‑projects or critical long‑term projects throughout the product lifecycle – from concept demonstration to product development, systems integration and customer training.
Reporting to the ISV Team Lead, you will be responsible for the end‑to‑end software testing and proving lifecycle for one or more WSSE products in a software simulation/emulation environment.
Key responsibilities
- Test/Proving Planning – understand customer needs, design, architecture and define test‑bed requirements; develop comprehensive test plans, designs and specifications.
- Test/Proving Conduct – carry out progressive testing, lead technical investigations into defects, support external integrations, trials and demos, analyse logs/data to identify issues and demonstrate compliance.
- Test/Proving Reporting – provide regular updates, write detailed reports for certification, support the delivery and release process.
Technical knowledge
GitLab, Jenkins, Python scripting, IBM PLM/ALM/ETM/Doors, JIRA, Agile Scrum, software test automation, CI/CD pipeline, Excel, basic macros, MS Office. Knowledge of software logs/data analysis – desirable.
Essential skills & experience
- Systems proving experience; knowledge of how to test and certify complex systems throughout the development lifecycle.
- Functional and/or software testing; verification and validation (V&V) knowledge.
- Python scripting experience.
- Software testing experience.
- ISTQB software testing certification.
Desirable skills & experience
- Systems understanding across multiple levels.
- Agile/Scrum familiarity.
