Payroll & Pensions Assistant

Contract and Salary

Fixed Term Contract – 12 months, Grade 4 (£26,403 – £28,142) – subject to national pay award negotiations for 2026.

Hours and Work Pattern

Full Time – 37 hours per week (Flexi Time). Work pattern: Mon – Fri. Location: Headquarters, Eyre Street, Sheffield / Agile home working.

Overview

We have an exciting opportunity within our Payroll & Pensions team in Financial Services for a Payroll & Pensions Assistant based at Headquarters in Sheffield.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Payroll & Pensions function by ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing.
  • Process end‑to‑end payroll data and resolve pay and pension related queries.
  • Update and maintain employee records.
  • Assist the Payroll & Pensions Officer with the development and functionality of the payroll system in accordance with current legislation and organisational policies.
  • Support the efficient delivery of payroll and pensions services.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Previous experience working in a Payroll and Pensions environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of payroll legislation.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good multi‑tasking ability.
  • Confident with using ICT systems.
  • Foundation Level CIPP Qualification.
  • GCSEs including Maths and English (A to C or equivalent).
