Engineer – Structural Integrity
Location
Hybrid working; primary location: Derby, Warrington, or Manchester. Role based at any Rolls‑Royce SMR location with occasional travel.
The Team
The Component & Structural Integrity Integration team delivers technical coordination and governance for codes, standards, and policies on pressure equipment within the SMR programme.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain structural integrity requirements and technical guidance for mechanical components.
- Apply cross‑disciplinary knowledge to ensure component reliability.
- Contribute to structural integrity safety case development, including technical arguments and supporting evidence.
- Support design teams to interpret and embed integrity requirements into designs.
- Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and the supply chain to deliver integrated solutions.
- Support regulatory engagement activities through high‑quality technical input.
- Manage workload to deliver against programme, cost, and quality expectations.
Qualifications
- Degree or HND in a relevant engineering or technical discipline.
- Experience applying structural integrity principles within complex engineering environments.
- Broad understanding of pressure‑retaining components and relevant design codes (e.g., ASME, EN, PED/PSSR).
- Ability to construct and present logical, evidence‑based safety arguments.
- Strong planning, coordination, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Benefits
Salary: £44,600–£52,500 plus performance bonus (target 12.5%).
Benefits: allowance £2,200 per annum, pension (12% employer, 6% employee), 28 days holiday plus public holidays, private medical insurance (BUPA), life assurance, one‑off home‑office purchase payment.
