Apprentice Project Engineer
Summary of Role
As an Apprentice Project Engineer you will support the Project Engineer within the Main Contracts or Small Works divisions to deliver fire sprinkler projects on time, to budget and in accordance with customer and regulatory requirements. You will gain valuable experience in working on a variety of projects ranging from commercial offices, warehouses, distribution centres, retail, life sciences, pharmaceutical through to data centres and airports – being supported and developed by our team of experienced professionals around you.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to project initiation and handover meetings with all stakeholders including Sales, Design, Quantity Surveying teams.
- Work alongside the Project Engineer to assist with the production and maintenance of the project programme.
- Provide project information regularly to our clients throughout the life of a project.
- Maintain central project file records and assist with the completion and submission of end‑of‑project documentation (e.g., Operating Manuals, As‑Fitted Drawings, Certifications).
- Support in ensuring installers are adequately briefed, competent & qualified to fulfil all project requirements.
- Contribute to the creation of project Quality Plans and assist the Project Engineer with internal & third‑party audits.
- Support with the Health & Safety requirements for each project by recording on‑site inspections in accordance, and assisting the Project Engineer with the completion of all H&S related documentation (e.g., Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS), attendance sheets).
Desired Skills, Qualities, and Experience (all essential)
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above.
- A grade 5 in Maths.
- A Level DD or BTEC National Diploma PPP or Access to HE Diploma with 21 Merits or Level3 Apprenticeship in related subject or equivalent level‑3 qualifications worth 64 UCAS points.
- Enthusiastic and passionate about a career in engineering.
- Eager to develop new skills and knowledge in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Good level of attendance, self‑discipline and time management – meeting deadlines, managing multiple tasks effectively.

About the Apprenticeship
You will be studying towards a Construction Design & Build Technician Level4 Apprenticeship. The course location is London South Bank University. When not studying, you will work alongside our experienced Project Managers delivering a real project engineering role. You may be expected to travel to different sites within a geographical region. You will need to manage your time and commitments well to ensure that you are able to complete your assignments whilst delivering a highly valued role. In addition to developing your core skills, you will be expected to support and carry out additional activities across our projects and service delivery, including project site assessments, supporting project documentation, assisting with technical surveys, and contributing to project planning and coordination activities. These responsibilities will provide valuable hands‑on experience across the full spectrum of project delivery while contributing to overall project success and will complement your technical development as you progress through the apprenticeship programme.
Important Information
Grades: You will be required to provide your GCSE Grades prior to selection for the Assessment Centre & Interview. The assessment centre for this programme will take place on Monday 22nd June or Tuesday 23rd June in London. Role Start Date: September 2026. You may be required to complete a DBS check, at either basic or enhanced level, depending on the location you will be working in.
