Long Term Futures is working in partnership with an Alternative Provision Trust in Chesterfield (S41) to appoint a dedicated Literacy Intervention Assistant to support pupils across KS3 and KS4. The provision supports learners with SEMH needs, behavioural challenges, and barriers to mainstream education within a structured and nurturing environment. This role focuses on delivering targeted literacy, phonics, reading, and oracy interventions to help students re-engage with learning, build confidence, and improve outcomes. This is a highly rewarding long-term opportunity with the potential to progress into a permanent role.
What You’ll Do
- Deliver targeted literacy and phonics interventions on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Support pupils with reading, phonics, spelling, comprehension, and oracy development
- Monitor learner progress and adapt intervention strategies to meet individual needs
- Build strong, positive relationships to encourage engagement and emotional regulation
- Support the wider development of literacy resources and intervention programmes across the provision
- Promote a positive culture of reading and literacy throughout the school
- Work collaboratively with literacy leads, teaching staff, and pastoral teams to support student progress
What We’re Looking For
- Experience delivering literacy or phonics interventions, ideally using Read Write Inc Fresh Start or similar programmes
- Experience supporting pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs is highly desirable
- A resilient, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting young people
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A genuine passion for helping students overcome barriers to learning
- A valid driving licence and access to transport (mileage expenses included). This is mandatory.
