Overview

AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) designs, plans, delivers, and operates all AWS global infrastructure. We support AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that give customers continual access to innovation. We solve complex problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain. You will work with engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other essential roles across AWS to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing capacity at the lowest cost for customers.

Responsibilities

Work with Network Deployment and Vendor Management teams to integrate quality assurance into cable installation processes throughout the project lifecycle. Participate in reviews of training curricula and cabling design documents, provide Quality Assurance representation to ensure standards are met during cable installation activities, and influence partner teams and cabling vendors to adopt quality‑assurance checklists that validate conformance to Amazon and jurisdictional standards. Gather feedback from internal stakeholders and cabling vendors, refine quality processes, verify cable installations meet standards, drive cable validation testing adoption and defect management, establish performance benchmarks, document and align cable installation standards and standard operating procedures, and conduct training with partner teams. This role directly impacts data center network reliability and customer experience; you will own the quality process from design reviews through training delivery.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Support quality assurance programs to drive world‑class quality in network cabling for new data center constructions.
  • Partner with Network Deployment teams to adopt defined quality assurance checklists, gather feedback, and generate recommendations to improve checklists.
  • Track cabling scope changes and perform impact analysis to address business needs.
  • Partner with the Vendor Management team to drive cable vendor quality, provide performance metrics through business reviews, and refine processes.
  • Maintain cable installation standards, checklists, standard operating procedures, and best‑practice guidelines.
  • Conduct Network Cabling Installation Quality Training programs and create training materials for internal and external stakeholder teams.
  • Collaborate with stakeholder teams to capture metrics data such as inspection reports and cable test results; track defects for root‑cause analysis and generate recommendations.
  • Track and report on project milestones, vendor performance metrics, and quality KPIs including First Pass Yield, defect rates, and schedule adherence across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by capturing lessons learned, facilitating post‑project reviews, and implementing process improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce Cost of Poor Quality and improve overall project efficiency.
  • Travel up to 25% for site visits and meetings for onsite quality standards review.

A Day in the Life

As a member of the AWS Quality Team you will visit data centers and ensure compliance with AWS and industry standards while collecting lessons learned to continuously improve. You will work directly with engineers, managers, and operations teams across the company to develop and improve network pathway and installation standards based on observations and lessons learned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies.
  • Associate’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Networking Engineering) or equivalent experience in networking.
  • Experience with fiber optic and copper cabling standards, testing equipment, and troubleshooting methodologies.
  • 2+ years of experience in data center Inside Plant cabling installation.
  • Knowledge of basic quality tools such as defect categorization, root cause analysis, or quality reporting systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of critical data center equipment.
  • Experience in investigating, designing, prototyping, and delivering new and innovative system solutions.
  • Experience managing small to moderate scale programs with internal teams and contractors.
  • Excellent communication skills, problem solving ability, attention to detail, root cause analysis experience, and ability to maintain high quality standards.
