With turnover of c.£15m and EBITDA of £2–3m, the business has built a strong market position and is now focused on accelerating its next stage of growth. Backed by experienced investors and a highly engaged leadership team, the organisation is building towards a future exit event through a combination of continued organic expansion, operational enhancement and selective acquisitions.
This opportunity is ideally suited to an individual who thrives in high-growth SME environments and wants to play a visible and influential role in shaping a business journey.
Culture is a defining feature of this organisation. The business is highly collaborative, people-led and growth-driven, with ambitious individuals across every level of the company. The successful individual will join a leadership team that values visibility, accountability and partnership, offering genuine opportunity to make an impact and help shape the future direction of the business.
Reporting directly into the senior leadership team, the Financial Controller will take ownership of the finance function end-to-end while helping to drive the professionalisation of the business. The successful individual will play a key role in strengthening reporting, improving processes and providing high-quality commercial insight across the organisation.
This role offers significant exposure across the wider group, partnering closely with the Board, operational leaders and the BI function to support strategic decision-making and scalable growth initiatives.
The Role:
The Financial Controller will also lead and develop a small finance team of two, helping elevate performance, accountability and capability while championing automation, systems enhancement and AI‑led efficiencies across finance operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the finance function across all financial control, reporting and operational finance activities
- Deliver robust monthly management accounts, board reporting and KPI analysis
- Drive improvements across financial systems, controls, reporting processes and data visibility
- Partner with senior stakeholders and unit leaders to provide commercial insight and support decision‑making
- Support strategic growth initiatives including acquisition activity and integration readiness
- Work collaboratively with the BI Lead to identify and implement automation and AI opportunities across finance and reporting
- Manage cashflow, forecasting, budgeting and financial planning processes
- Develop and mentor a high‑performing finance team, creating a culture of continuous improvement
- Support the business through its ongoing Private Equity value creation journey and eventual exit preparation
The Requirements:
The business is seeking a technically strong and commercially aware finance professional who combines hands‑on capability with a proactive and collaborative approach.
The successful candidate will likely demonstrate:
- A recognised professional finance qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
- Experience operating within a Private Equity backed, high‑growth SME or fast‑paced entrepreneurial environment
- Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise
- A proven track record of improving systems, processes, reporting capability and finance function performance
- Experience leading or contributing to finance transformation, automation or systems enhancement initiatives
- Exposure to Professional Services, Business Services or a similar people‑led recurring revenue model
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across senior leadership teams
- A growth mindset with the ambition and capability to help scale a business through its next phase
This is an outstanding opportunity for a high‑calibre Financial Controller looking to step into a broad, commercially influential role within a dynamic Private Equity environment.
