Home Risk Pricing Consultant

Be part of NFU Mutual’s people-focused Risk Pricing department, that puts fairness and accurate pricing at the heart of what we do. A great opportunity to combine hands‑on technical pricing work with people management, developing risk pricing models whilst leading and supporting a small team.

Benefit from our hybrid working approach, with 80% home working and regular time in our Stratford‑upon‑Avon office for collaboration and connection (20%).

About the role

Working within the Pricing team at NFU Mutual feels genuinely different. With a clear focus on customers rather than shareholders, the team’s work has real impact – supporting local communities, protecting livelihoods, and helping our UK wide agency network deliver exceptional service.

As a Home Risk Pricing Consultant you will:

  • Develop and deliver an independent risk price across a defined product range, ensuring accurate risk cost, strong premium performance and clear insight into the drivers of cost inflation.
  • Design and implement effective rating logic, build and refine risk pricing models, and support governance processes to maintain the highest levels of model quality and integrity.
  • Shape and evolve our monitoring approach, improving insight into performance and strengthening our ability to respond to emerging trends.
  • Drive efficiencies and streamline processes as we transition towards an online distribution channel.
  • Provide robust technical input to product, underwriting and pricing decisions by monitoring regulatory and market forces and driving continuous improvement.
  • Operate at the heart of our pricing strategy, with visibility across senior stakeholders and involvement in innovative projects.

About you

You are an experienced pricing professional who can translate complex analysis into clear insights and recommendations. You communicate confidently with stakeholders, build strong relationships, and positively influence thinking. You are comfortable challenging assumptions, simplifying complexity, and adapting quickly in an evolving environment.

  • Significant experience in a general insurance pricing function with direct responsibility for pricing outputs.
  • Proficiency with pricing software (Emblem, Radar, R, SQL or similar).
  • Extensive experience building and using risk pricing models and setting technical rates.
  • Strong data and trend analysis capability.
  • Prior experience in personal property lines and/or direct online channels is desirable.
  • People‑centred leader with proven experience in leading, developing and mentoring others.
  • Strong problem‑solving capability and a proactive, solutions‑focused mindset.

Benefits and Rewards

  • Level 4 salary of up to £72,000.
  • Annual bonus up to 17.5% of salary.
  • Contributory pension scheme up to 20%, including an 8% employee contribution.
  • 25 days annual leave + bank holidays + buy/sell/save holiday trading scheme.
  • Family‑friendly policy to help balance work and family responsibilities.
  • Access to savings at high‑street brands, travel and supermarket discounts.
  • £20 contribution to a monthly gym membership – subject to T&Cs.
  • Health and wellbeing plan with cashback for dentist, opticians, physio and more.
  • Access to voluntary benefits, including health assessments, private medical and dental insurance.
  • Employee volunteering – one day in the community each year.
