Role Summary & Purpose

Arch is comprised of two Lloyd’s syndicates (2012 and 1955) and a company portfolio. The role is responsible for the management and modelling of Non‑Natural Catastrophe portfolios – Terrorism, Cyber, and Liability – and for assisting with key internal and external reports. Responsibilities include producing monthly business reports, assisting with monthly roll‑ups for internal/external reporting, responding to underwriting requests for information, developing processes and analytical techniques for Non‑Natural Catastrophe classes, and communicating with underwriters to ensure smooth Exposure Management reporting.

The position involves making improvements to data and analytics of Non‑Natural Catastrophe classes, communicating key metrics and portfolio completeness to stakeholders, driving the development of the Non‑Natural Catastrophe Exposure Management framework within Arch, and handling ad hoc projects such as tool and model validation and process automation.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Lead analyst for Non‑Natural Catastrophe reporting across key business classes.
  • Manage all aspects of the portfolios for exposure management and catastrophe analytics, with internal assistance and the outsourcer.
  • Analyze monthly variances and ensure good data governance within Arch portfolios.
  • Prepare data for key stakeholders, including Group reporting and outward reinsurance purchasing for multiple Arch entities.
  • Provide internal and external reporting support during Event Response.
  • Complete ad hoc requests from underwriters to assist with pricing and risk monitoring.
  • Handle ad hoc requests from Catastrophe Managers and the Head of Department.

Role Requirements & Skills

  • Strong understanding of Exposure Management and modelling.
  • Solid knowledge of Insurance, gained in a relevant industry role.
  • Practical knowledge of insurance policies.
  • Experience with non‑natural catastrophe classes is advantageous.
  • Ability to communicate complex Exposure Management concepts to a non‑technical audience.
  • Proven organisational and workload management skills.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent IT skills, including programming skills in Excel, VBA and SQL.
  • Analytical/technical mindset.
  • Strong drive to develop Exposure Management practices and processes.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Insurance.
  • Experience working in a similar role within a Lloyd’s syndicate or equivalent.
  • Experience with Exposure Management approaches, including modelling and scenario calculation.
