Job Description:

Job Summary

The Endoscopy Technician performs competent inspection and reprocessing of all reusable department supplies, instruments, and equipment in accordance with organization policy and procedures.

Essential Functions

  • Demonstrates disinfection principles to correctly leak test, manually clean, validate cleaning, and disinfect all reusable endoscopy supplies, instruments, and equipment in strict accordance with organization policy and procedure.
  • Inspects supplies, instruments, and equipment for cleanliness and functionality.
  • Operates Automated Endoscopic Reprocessors (AER) and other reprocessing equipment according to organization policy and procedure and demonstrates accurate documentation of process, tracking, and logs as required.
  • Demonstrates infection control practices with personal protective equipment, hand washing, aseptic techniques, and disinfection of all instruments and equipment according to organization policy and procedure.
  • Monitors channel check process on specialty scopes to ensure appropriate pre-cleaning and reprocessing is occurring for patient safety.
  • Promotes organizational behavioral-based expectations and supports efforts to exceed key performance indicator goals while providing quality patient care that demonstrates stewardship and management of valuable organization and human resources.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent (required).

Required Licensing & Certifications

  • BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (preferred).

Experience

Six months of previous endoscope reprocessing experience (preferred).
