Main area Gynaecology Grade NHS AfC: Band 5 Contract 6 months (Fixed term 6 months) Hours Part time – 17 hours per week (2Ñ8.5‑hour days) Job ref 284-26-7996060-DWAB

Site: Birmingham Women’s Hospital, Town Birmingham. Salary: £32,073 – £39,043 pro rata (Yearly). Closing: 11/06/2026 23:59. Interview date: 19/06/2026.

Colposcopy & Hysteroscopy is a very busy department where we care for women who need further examination following a smear test and women who experience Post‑Menopausal Bleeding.

The department is open Monday to Friday with some Saturdays.

This will be a varied role working in both Colposcopy & Hysteroscopy within our team of clinicians, CNS, Nurses & Allied Health Care Professionals.

We pride ourselves on being responsive, empathetic and flexible in continuing to develop the services offered to women.

Main duties of the job

Deliver high quality, safe, compassionate patient‑centred care that respects and maintains dignity at all times for ladies undergoing outpatient colposcopy or hysteroscopy.

Facilitate efficient and effective care and communication between the patient and their care providers and act as patient advocate at all times.

Contribute to practice development within the clinical setting and work in accordance to the Trust’s values, policies and guidelines.

Complete any work‑based training associated with the role.

Person specification

Qualifications

  • Registered Adult Nurse on the NMC register.

Knowledge & nature of experience

  • Gynaecology an advantage.

Professional / managerial / specialist knowledge

  • Demonstrate achievement of numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Understanding of NMC Code of Conduct.
  • Ability to challenge existing practice and initiate change.
  • Understanding principles of safeguarding.

Analytical & judgment skills

  • Demonstrate an ability to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate patient care.
  • Ability to identify your own learning needs.
