An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Staff Nurse to join our Acute Cardiology Ward G9 at Frimley Park Hospital on a 12-month maternity cover secondment.
Ward Details
G9 is a 20-bed acute cardiology ward caring for patients with a wide range of cardiac conditions, including acute coronary syndrome, myocardial infarction, heart failure and arrhythmias. The ward works closely with the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) and Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory to provide high-quality specialist cardiac care.

- Coronary angiograms
- Angioplasties
- Pacemaker procedures
- Pericardiocentesis
- DC cardioversions
Main Duties
- Deliver and maintain a high standard of patient care in accordance with Trust policies, procedures and clinical guidelines.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, ensuring high standards of nursing documentation in line with clinical governance requirements.
- Be aware of and appropriately follow the Trust’s complaints and incident reporting procedures.
- Escalate incidents, complaints and staffing or ward concerns to senior staff as appropriate.
- Ensure that all mandatory and professional training undertaken is applied effectively within clinical practice and that learning objectives are achieved.
- Support and contribute to the teaching and development of student nurses, newly qualified nurses and new members of staff, promoting a positive learning environment.
- Promote effective multidisciplinary team working and support the Ward Manager in maintaining a positive and motivated team environment.
- Provide specialist support and advice relating to cardiac conditions and procedures, while promoting patient health education and wellbeing.
- Undertake and maintain competency in extended clinical skills, including venepuncture, cannulation, IV administration/additives and male catheterisation.
Qualifications
- Essential: Current NMC registration.
- Desirable: Undertaking or completed further academic study.
Experience
- Essential: Working with multidisciplinary teams, Experience in a hospital setting.
- Desirable: Some post registration experience, Acute experience.
Skills & Knowledge
- Essential: Competent in basic life support, Computer literate, Good interpersonal skills with the ability to manage difficult / stressful situations.
- Desirable: ILS, Confident in teaching.
