Position Summary
Senior Clinical Psychologist (Band 8b) – 36 hours per week.
(Learning Disabilities Adults, Children & Young People)
Responsibilities
You will provide highly specialist psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention for adults and young people with learning disabilities, often with co‑occurring mental health, neurodevelopmental, or behavioural challenges under the Coming Home Remit.
You will support a small but highly complex number of individuals returning from out‑of‑area placements or who are at risk of placement/family breakdown, working closely with multi‑agency stakeholders to ensure safe, sustainable community care.
As part of a skilled multidisciplinary team, you will deliver specialist assessment, intervention and risk management for people with complex needs, while collaborating with CAMHS, Children & Young People’s Services, Education, Social Work and Adult LD teams to maintain stable community placements and prevent crisis escalation.
Employment Conditions
From 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be 36 hours per week. Part‑time hours will be reduced pro‑rated. The hourly rate will be increased accordingly to keep pay unchanged.
Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check than is currently performed. If the post is assessed as a “regulated role”, a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme will be required. The specific requirements will be confirmed by the Hiring Manager or Recruitment Team.
