Environmental Engagement Officer

Liverpool City Council is seeking a dedicated team member to lead efforts in waste reduction, recycling, and environmental awareness across the city. About the role

The Environmental Engagement Officer will work closely with local councillors, residents, businesses, and community groups to deliver educational initiatives, support new recycling and waste collection services, and encourage responsible waste‑management practices. The officer will respond to customer enquiries, explain relevant legislation, and conduct follow‑up visits to address issues. Additionally, the officer will support community events, develop promotional materials, and deliver educational presentations to schools and local groups.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with local councillors, residents, businesses, and community groups to deliver educational initiatives, support new recycling and waste collection services, and encourage responsible waste‐management practices.
  • Respond to customer enquiries, explain relevant legislation, and conduct follow‑up visits to address issues.
  • Support community events, develop promotional materials, and deliver educational presentations to schools and local groups.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with the public, community engagement, and project management.
  • Strong communication skills and a flexible approach.
