Electrical Quality Engineer

Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater – Permanent, Full Time

Summary

NG Bailey is proud to be involved in the Hinkley Point C project based in Bridgwater, Somerset. This is the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in Britain, providing zero‑carbon electricity for around six million homes. The project is part of the MEH Alliance, a joint venture delivering mechanical, electrical and HVAC installation.

Responsibilities

  • Quality Management System (QMS) Development: Collaborate with QA Area Leads to develop and implement a comprehensive QMS tailored to the nuclear new build project.
  • Procedure Development and Review: Create, review, and update QA/QC procedures, work instructions, and quality plans to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards and project specifications.
  • Quality Audits and Inspections: Conduct regular audits and inspections, identify non‑conformances and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Life‑time Quality Records: Oversee documentation to maintain accurate, up‑to‑date records for regulatory compliance and project traceability.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential quality risks, conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation measures to prevent quality issues and ensure safety and reliability.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable nuclear regulatory requirements, codes, standards and licensing conditions related to QA/QC.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and guidance to project personnel, contractors and subcontractors on QA/QC procedures and standards.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Investigate quality issues or failures, use RCA techniques to identify underlying problems and implement corrective actions.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor KPIs related to QA/QC, prepare progress reports and communicate QA status and recommendations to management.
  • Inspection and Test Plans: Develop ITPs to meet construction schedule requirements.
  • CFME – Foreign Material Exclusion: Champion prevention of intrusion of non‑specified materials or debris in equipment and systems during assembly and testing.
  • Non‑Conformance: Issue and manage NCRs, facilitate closure of internal and client‑issued NCRs and maintain lessons‑learned logs.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a quality role within the engineering industry.
  • Electrical qualifications (HNC/HND or trade qualifications).
  • Experience in a regulated industry and on large‑scale projects preferable.
  • Internal Auditor qualification advantageous.
