Junior Multi-Skilled Engineer
Location: Barnsley
Salary: £35,000 – £40,000
Shift Pattern: 07:00 – 15:00 switching to 06:00 – 14:00 & 14:00 – 22:00
We are currently recruiting for a Junior Multi-Skilled Engineer to join a well-established heavy industrial manufacturing business. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior or apprentice-trained engineer looking to develop their skills within a fast-paced production environment.
You will work alongside experienced maintenance engineers supporting both planned and reactive maintenance across a range of industrial machinery and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
- Support breakdown repairs and fault finding activities
- Carry out basic mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks
- Work on conveyors, motors, pumps, gearboxes, hydraulics, and pneumatics
- Ensure machinery downtime is minimised
- Maintain health & safety standards across site
- Complete maintenance documentation and reports
Candidate Requirements
- NVQ / City & Guilds / Apprenticeship in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Basic understanding of manufacturing or industrial maintenance
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work well within a team environment
Desirable Experience
- Previous manufacturing or industrial experience
- Exposure to PLCs or automated equipment
- Mechanical or electrical fault-finding knowledge
