Maintenance Engineer required.
Our client is a well-established steel stockholder based in the Kentford, Suffolk area, seeking an experienced multi‑skilled Maintenance Engineer to join the team with strong electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic experience.
Job Overview
- Perform preventative maintenance routines and condition monitoring of production machinery and facilities as per the maintenance schedules.
- Liaise closely with the Maintenance Supervisor and operations staff to ensure efficient, effective and planned reactive maintenance at all times.
- Make safety inspections of tools and equipment.
- Diagnose faults and repair machines in a safe manner to minimise downtime and cost.
- Anticipate machine failures and make changes or recommendations to prevent re‑occurrence and minimise downtime.
- Work to improve reliability and productivity of equipment.
- Complete written records of all maintenance activities.
- Carry out maintenance tasks diligently and in good time using appropriate methodology.
Qualifications
- Good mechanical and electrical skills.
- Pneumatic and hydraulic knowledge, along with PLC, inverter, instrumentation and control experience.
- Knowledge of various mechanical drive arrangements.
- UK driving licence and experience in a heavy industrial environment.
- Fabrication skills including welding, plasma cutting and power tools.
Location: Kentford, Suffolk (commutable distance).
Salary & Benefits
- Salary £40,000 – £48,000.
- Working hours 14:00 – 22:00 Monday to Friday, 40‑hour week.
- Overtime paid at time and a half.
- Company vehicle upon completion of the probationary period, available for use in personal time.
