Your future team

Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer will provide quality assurance and quality control support and expertise to infrastructure projects within the Defence Infrastructure sector. You will be part of a joint project team, collaborating with personnel from various companies and their supply chains to ensure right-first-time delivery.

Your missions

  • Providing quality assurance (QA) and quality control support and expertise to the site EHJ Project Team.
  • Fostering a strong site quality presence to build effective relationships with Suppliers and Site Stakeholders.
  • Supporting the identification and flow‑down of MoD Client quality requirements to the supply chain.
  • Collaborating with quality peers and Suppliers to capture, share, and implement lessons learned (LFE) across future works and the Infrastructure Programme.

Typical activities will include

  • Assisting Project Management and Functional Leads in establishing project procedures, processes, and plans to meet Coulport requirements.
  • Reviewing enquiry, tender, and contract documentation (e.g., ITPs, Quality Plans, Specifications) for quality requirements and Client‑specific contract specifications.
  • Regularly attending site meetings.
  • Conducting internal quality and supplier audits/health checks per the agreed schedule to verify compliance and identify process improvements.
  • Monitoring quality performance against KPIs/criteria and identifying areas of concern.
  • Overseeing product quality verification, including surveillance of Supplier site installation/manufacturing, Factory & Site Acceptance Tests, and Release Inspections.
  • Supporting the capture and tracking of quality‑related risks, opportunities, non‑conformances (NCRs), and Defect Notifications.
  • Conducting quality investigations, root cause analysis, process improvement activities, and supplier escalations.
  • Collaborating with project functions to define Lifetime Quality Records content and coordinate their collation, review, and approval by Suppliers.
  • Proactively liaising with Third‑Party representatives and Government Quality Assurance Representatives (GQAR) as needed.

Qualifications

Qualifications/Skills to be successful

  • Hold a relevant HNC (Level 4 or higher) qualification in an engineering discipline, or demonstrate equivalent experience.
  • Full understanding and implementation of quality management systems (ISO 9001:2015).
  • Demonstrable experience in quality engineering roles across multiple projects and domains.

Essential

  • SC Clearance (or ability to obtain prior to employment).
  • Industry‑recognized auditor qualification (e.g., ISO 9001 Lead/Internal).
  • Hold a relevant HNC (Level 4 or higher) qualification in an engineering discipline, OR demonstrate equivalent experience.

Desirable

  • Associated professional membership in an appropriate discipline (e.g., CQI/IRCA).
  • Industry‑recognized NDE (Non‑Destructive Engineering/NDT) qualification (e.g., PCN/CSWIP).
