Role Overview

You will work in the Spectrum Assurance team within the Ofcom Spectrum Group, responsible for delivering high‑quality spectrum assurance to services and spectrum users within your geographical area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain radio/spectrum engineering standards and ensure all harmful interference issues raised are resolved within KPIs.
  • Investigate all unlicensed radio spectrum use within the geographical area and resolve within KPIs.
  • Plan targeted proactive radio monitoring to ensure licence compliance and mitigate harmful radio interference.
  • Conduct proactive inspections of radio equipment to ensure licence compliance and technical specification adherence.
  • Support large sporting events that rely on radio services, such as The Open Golf Championship and the G26 Commonwealth Games.
  • Provide support and collaboration to colleagues and assist when required.
  • Manage own equipment plant and vehicle to professional standard, finances, and H&S (full equipment and vehicle will be provided).

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Appreciation of and desire to promote Ofcom’s values of excellence, agility, respect, empowerment and collaboration.
  • Ownership of performance, KPI’s and service levels.
  • Experience of radio engineering and knowledge of radio spectrum.
  • Experience working in a geographically dispersed team.
  • Excellent people skills, ability to deliver difficult conversations, trace interference and interact with stakeholders across casework.
  • Excellent stakeholder relationship skills and customer focus.

Qualifications

  • Technical qualification – HNC/D in a technical discipline, or equivalent experience and knowledge.
  • Full driver’s license.
