Overview

A respected and well-established specialist hire company is looking to recruit an experienced Commercial Gas Engineer / Chiller and Boiler Specialist Engineer to support their growing operations in Birmingham. The company provides temporary heating, cooling, and hot water solutions for commercial, industrial, and public‑sector clients across the UK. Due to continued expansion, they are looking to strengthen their engineering team with a technically capable engineer based in or around Birmingham.

Responsibilities

This role will involve working across a variety of projects, installing, servicing and maintaining temporary boiler and chiller equipment across client sites.

  • Installation, servicing and maintenance of temporary commercial boilers and chillers
  • Fault finding on chilled water systems, AHUs and forced draft burners
  • Mechanical modifications within existing plant rooms and pipework systems
  • Attending client sites across Birmingham and surrounding areas
  • Supporting junior engineers and assisting with technical development
  • Ensuring all work is completed in line with safety and compliance standards

Key Requirements

  • Strong experience working on commercial mechanical systems
  • Experience with LTHW systems and chilled water systems
  • Knowledge of natural gas and oil‑fired boiler systems
  • Experience with control wiring and electrical services
  • Experience working on air‑cooled chillers and AHU equipment
  • Commercial gas safe certification
  • F gas refrigeration certification
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Ability to participate in call‑out rota when required
  • Willingness to complete DBS checks for certain client sites

Training and Development

  • F gas training
  • OFTEC certification
  • SSSTS / SMSTS courses
  • Additional specialist mechanical and refrigeration training package
  • Bespoke training and development plan
