Job Overview

For our site in Crewe, where our team of 70 colleagues produces small plastic containers, we are seeking a Quality Engineer to support the evaluation and development of current manufacturing and QHSE systems. Focus will be on improving Safety, Quality and production.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support Quality and Production teams through testing and audits to ensure all quality requirements are met.
  • Resolve quality and production issues using structured problem‑solving and root cause analysis.
  • Conduct studies of current production, process and quality control measures, including capability studies.
  • Identify, develop and coordinate improvement programs.
  • Own Manufacturing Specification and Process Pack documentation, from data capture to control and use within Operations.
  • Project manage new product and process development to ensure QSHE requirements are met and products are manufacturable with high repeatability.
  • Run from initial concept through to issue of specifications, work instructions, etc.
  • Work with process and maintenance engineers to drive improvement and develop a quality‑focused maintenance program.
  • Manage internal audit programme of product, process and system audits with responsibility for monitoring Corrective Action Plans.
  • Manage the HSE Risk Assessment Programme, scheduling and leading risk assessment reviews and coordinating action plans.
  • Manage Supplier QSE assessment programme, including supplier assessments, performance measurement and audits.
  • Support ongoing certification to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, BRC, IPPC and ISO 45001, including customer and regulatory audits.
  • Administer QSHE system, including review and update of technical drawings and data.

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering or a technical discipline.
  • Project management, problem‑solving, organisational and communication skills.
  • Experience working within a Quality Management System such as ISO 9001 or ISO 14001.
  • Knowledge of Process Control Methodologies, including SPC.
  • Advanced IT knowledge and capability to lead optimisation and automation of IT system projects.
  • Full working knowledge of AutoCAD or equivalent.
  • Computer literacy in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
