Assistant Engineering Manager

Position

Assistant Engineering Manager, Exeter Depot – Salary £55,248.98

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate your team to deliver safe, reliable, well‑presented vehicles.
• Schedule and prioritise vehicle maintenance and servicing activities.
• Support team development, identify training needs and foster continuous improvement.
• Quality‑check vehicles after maintenance to ensure high standards are met.
• Uphold health, safety and environmental standards in line with legislation and Stagecoach policy.

Qualifications

• Relevant engineering experience, including mechanical, electrical and bodywork knowledge.
• Qualified to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in relevant engineering field (mechanical or automotive).
• Experience managing or supervising a workshop or technical team and a strong understanding of PCV operations.
• Strong understanding of health and safety practices and regulatory standards.
• A people‑centred approach to leadership, with strong communication and influencing skills.
• Ability to plan, analyse, and make confident decisions in a dynamic environment.
