Job Summary
EQUANS are looking for a Mobile Fire Door Maintenance Operative working on our Knowsley School contract in Liverpool. This is a permanent full‑time role with 40 hours per week. Competitive salary and benefits package is offered.
General Overview
The Fire Door Inspector & Maintainer will ensure safety of the public by identifying, investigating, and reducing risk. They will develop effective relationships and maintain proactive communication with internal & external stakeholders.
They will plan and prioritise work within recognised safe systems of work, business policies, procedures and in accordance with all aspects of health and safety legislation. They will work within a one‑team approach to duties, supporting and working effectively with colleagues to provide good working relationships within the North West contracts and wider NW&C region. The Fire Door Inspector & maintainer will report into the Fire Door Supervisor.
Impact
The Fire Door Inspector & Maintainer will be accountable for the inspection and maintenance of fire doors within the North West Cluster.
They must be reliable, conscientious, professional, effective in communication, able to deal with stakeholders at all levels, work on own initiative, adhere to procedures, have good time management, organisational skills and flexible attitude.
Complexity
- Carrying out inspection of fire doors at each site in a timely, efficient and cost‑effective manner.
- Carrying out maintenance & repairs of fire doors at each site in a timely, efficient and cost‑effective manner.
- Using the Bolster app on the PDA (tablet) to follow a checklist to report on the status of each fire door.
- Building professional relationships with clients.
- Maintaining accurate and precise documentation of works completed.
- Following procedures to ensure each inspection is completed correctly.
- Be responsible for keeping the company vehicle clean, tidy and presentable.
- Handling tools of various types and ensuring safe set up.
- Adhering to safety guidelines whilst on the job site.
- Ensuring all tools and machinery are kept clean and in good repair.
- Ensuring all specifications are met.
- Good communication skills.
- Liaise and undertake duties at other EQUANS projects as directed by Senior Management.
Qualifications or Required Experience
- Experience of carrying out Fire Door Inspections and maintenance & repairs is essential.
- Recognised Fire Door Inspection qualifications (FDIS, BRE etc).
- Ability to work unsupervised.
- A sound understanding of Health and Safety Legislation (SMSTS, IOSH or NEBOSH).
- Confident communicator with excellent customer interaction skills.
- Ability to manage and prioritise workload.
- Administration skills, including use of CAFM system and Microsoft Office applications.
