Job Description:

Responsibilities

  • Self‑manage workload and priorities without direct supervision.
  • Balance equipment shortages and prioritize vehicle equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels and with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist operational crews with queries on vehicle or equipment availability.
  • Undertake driving duties for delivery and collection of equipment and consumables.
  • Prepare ambulances to agreed standard and meet strict time deadlines.
  • Plan and prepare ambulances for operational duties and support operational requirements at remote and satellite sites.
  • Collect and transport vehicles between sites; visit hospital sites to retrieve LAS equipment.
  • Maintain Trust required standards in make‑ready process and operating standards in accordance with infection control.
  • Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) correctly for all activities.
  • Use Pro‑Cloud software via iPad to receive jobs, scan equipment, and record vehicle information.
  • Identify and report problems within Pro‑Cloud and provide Datix reports for health and safety risks.
  • Input vehicle made‑ready information and withdrawal of stock accurately.
  • Carry out function and assurance checks on complex medical and non‑medical equipment per SOP.
  • Ensure cleaning chemicals are stored securely and compliance with environmental and health & safety guidelines.
  • Lift awkward and heavy items following manual handling principles.
  • Drive Trust vehicles in accordance with all procedures and log all journeys.

Qualifications

  • Current full manual UK driving licence (C1 category) with no more than 3 penalty points.
  • Good standard of written and verbal English.
  • Willingness to undertake any training required by LAS.

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of driving experience.
  • Previous cleaning experience.
  • Experience of stores/stocking take‑off and checking.
  • Experience working in a public service or customer care environment.
  • Experience driving around London and larger vehicles.

Knowledge

  • Ability to follow instructions and work on own initiative.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good understanding of basic vehicle safety.
  • Ability to follow processes and procedures.
  • Basic computer skills / IT literacy.
  • Good interpersonal skills and teamwork.
  • Ability to maintain records and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with cleaning products for extended periods.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires a DBS check for any previous convictions.

Salary

£25,760 to £27,476 a year. Post attracts HCAS and unsocial hours payments.
