Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Support Worker to join our Pharmacy team at HMP Wealstun, a Category C men’s prison with an operational capacity of around 1,000. The prison has good transport links and a free onsite car park.

Salary: £24,667 per annum.

Legal requirements

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and, due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

Responsibilities

Assist in dispensing medication and maintaining medication records within a secure environment. Support patients with their medication needs and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide high‑quality care for prisoners.

Qualifications and experience

  • No experience in pharmacy is required – we are looking for someone with a keen interest in pharmacy and a desire to pursue a career in healthcare within a prison.
  • A NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Dispensing would be a bonus, but is not essential.
  • Ideally have medicines handling experience, although not essential.
  • Have a proactive approach, with excellent communication skills.
