Responsibilities

The Headteacher and Governors are looking to appoint an exceptional and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to support the complex teaching and learning needs of 2 KS1 children. These children require a high level of support for communication and language as well as cognition and learning. You will need to be adaptable and be able to amend lesson plans and prepare resources which will enable the children to succeed at all levels. As well as supporting the children in class and at lunch‑time, you will also be delivering one‑to‑one and small group interventions that will enable the children to fulfil their full potential, as directed by the class teacher.

Providing a positive, calm, motivational, flexible, and creative environment, you will be patient, sensitive, able to comfort children when and where necessary, and support the inclusive nature of the school.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a high standard of spoken and written English and have GCSE English and Maths (A-C grades or equivalent). Previous experience of running interventions or knowledge of Special Educational Needs pupils would be an advantage.

Commitment & Values

Applicants will need to show a commitment to the inclusive nature of the school, a caring attitude to all pupils and also have high expectations for behaviour while promoting fair and inclusive practices. Thorn Grove is a one form entry, high achieving school recognised for its inclusive ethos and practice. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and providing a broad and balanced curriculum and we expect all staff to share this commitment.
