The Huddersfield Plant is situated in Yorkshire. The plant specialises in the manufacture of additives for performance coatings, working to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO‑14001:2015 standards.
How You’ll Make an Impact
As a Site Logistics Operator you will contribute to the production of reactive and formulated products in accordance with standard procedures and operating instructions covering SHE, Quality, output and efficiency aspects in a CO‑MAH registered chemical manufacturing unit.
Key responsibilities include:
- Controlling and managing the delivery, receipt and storage of raw materials and empty finished goods packaging safely into the correct storage locations.
- Managing the dispatch of finished goods to third‑party warehouses in accordance with procedures and regulations.
- Assisting with the preparation of raw materials for use in the manufacturing units and preparation of finished goods labels and associated packaging.
- Carrying out problem solving / troubleshooting in a safe manner to ensure production plans are delivered.
- Maintaining and improving 5S in areas of responsibility.
- Contributing to continuous improvement activities and projects across their area of manufacturing.
- Maintaining exceptional safety standards by proactively identifying and addressing potential hazards to ensure the well‑being of personnel and protection of the environment.
- Owning and improving the incoming and outgoing material areas of the site.
- Operating flexibly in different areas of the plant as required to support plant operations teams in meeting production demands.
- Working as the sole Site Logistics Operator on site with indirect supervision from the Duty Shift Leader.
- Ensuring effective compliance with the necessary QHSES, regulatory standards and record‑keeping.
- Communicating regularly with all functions on site to ensure safe and timely dispatch of finished goods to the warehouse.
- Ensuring full, accurate completion of documentation including Dangerous Goods notes and performing final checks that there are no visible defects at the point of dispatch.
- Keeping written records such as PI sheets, 5S audit check sheets, stock counts, SOPs and completing goods‑in receipt in SAP.
Required Qualifications
- O‑Levels/GCSE in Maths, English and Chemistry/Science or equivalent vocational qualification.
- Accredited multi‑skilled apprenticeship or nationally accredited trade apprenticeship.
- Previous experience in SAP.
- Awareness of safety legislation/procedures and quality systems (ISO).
- Proficiency in computer systems (SAP, MS Office) and strong numeracy / literacy skills.
- HS&CE awareness – compliance with safe systems of work and knowledge of standards.
- Ability to work both in a team and independently under general supervision.
- Attention to detail – compliance with operating instructions and accurate record‑keeping.
- Team working ability.
- Ability to contribute to improvement projects.
- Counterbalance forklift licence essential.
- Good level of fitness required.
