Maintenance Technician – Electrical Bias – Preston
At Baxi we’re looking for a skilled and proactive Maintenance Technician – Electrical Bias to join our manufacturing site in Preston. This key role within our Maintenance team supports the reliability and performance of our automated production plant.
The Role
As a Maintenance Technician – Electrical Bias, based at our Preston manufacturing site, you will report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and support both planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown activities across a wide range of automated industrial plant and process equipment. The role is offered on permanent double day shifts and requires a proactive approach to preventative maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults across automated production equipment.
- Work with control panels, motors, drives, sensors, and associated systems.
- Support PLC fault finding (modification experience advantageous).
- Carry out planned maintenance activities on schedule.
- Assist with mechanical maintenance where required.
- Read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Contribute to initiatives that reduce downtime and improve plant performance.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with safety standards and procedures.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports.
- Work effectively within the maintenance team and alongside production colleagues.
Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent Level 3 electrical qualification) – essential.
- Completed recognised apprenticeship in Electrical or Multi‑Skilled Engineering – essential.
- Proven experience within an industrial maintenance environment.
- Strong electrical fault‑finding skills.
- Experience working with automated machinery and production equipment.
- Knowledge of PLC fault diagnosis (desirable).
- Working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics (advantageous).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- PC literate.
- IPAF / FLT / basic welding experience (desirable but not essential).
