Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced ASSISTANT MANAGER to support the daily operations of our retail store. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a comprehensive understanding of retail management. This role involves supervising staff, managing sales strategies, overseeing and planning merchandising, and ensuring top notch customer service. The Assistant Manager will play a vital role in driving store performance, fostering a positive team environment, and implementing marketing initiatives to attract and retain customers. Experience in Fashion Retail and/or Menswear both formal and casual a HUGE asset!
Responsibilities
- Assist the Store Manager in overseeing daily store operations to ensure smooth functioning. Act as MOD in Store Manager’s absence.
- Supervise and motivate team members, including recruiting, training & development, and performance management.
- Manage sales activities, including sales management, pricing strategies, and achieving sales targets.
- Oversee merchandising efforts to optimize product placement and presentation.
- Handle POS transactions, cash handling, bookkeeping, and payroll processing accurately.
- Coordinate inventory management to maintain stock levels and reduce shrinkage.
- Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote store events and products.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, health & safety regulations, and store procedures while liaising with Store Manager regarding staff compliance.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and maintaining high customer satisfaction levels.
- Participate in recruiting efforts and team building efforts.
- Manage budgets and assist in financial planning to meet operational goals.
- Utilize organizational skills and time management to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced workplace.
Qualifications
- Proven supervisory or managerial experience in retail or related fields.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and manage personnel effectively.
- Excellent communication skills; bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus.
- Proficiency in POS systems, cash handling, bookkeeping, and administrative tasks.
- Experience with merchandising, pricing strategies, sales management, and marketing initiatives.
- Knowledge of recruiting processes, interviewing techniques, and training & development practices.
- Ability to handle negotiations with vendors or partners when necessary.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; effective time management is essential.
- Customer service-oriented mindset with excellent phone etiquette and interpersonal skills.
- Competency in budgeting, math skills for financial calculations, and basic administrative experience is preferred.
