Job Overview
A 25‑year‑old client who lives at home with his family and pet dog requires full‑time support. He has cerebral palsy (dystonic/athetoid quadriplegia) and is an experienced wheelchair user. He is intelligent, sociable, and enjoys activities such as Lego, puzzles, problem‑solving, socialising and community time. The support worker will enable him to live a full, active and enjoyable life, promoting independence, wellbeing and daily routine participation.
Responsibilities
- Provide high‑quality, person‑centred support to the client across all aspects of daily living, including personal care, moving and handling, medication administration, and wellbeing.
- Assist with practical tasks and facilitate community participation.
- Offer emotional support and proactive involvement in activities that promote independence and quality of life.
- Build a warm, respectful relationship with the client, adapting communication style to meet his needs.
- Collaborate with the client’s family and wider support network.
- Encourage the client to express preferences, make choices and maintain dignity.
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience in brain injury care or complex care support is essential.
- Strong communication skills, calm manner, and willingness to learn are key.
- Physically capable of assisting with moving and handling tasks.
- A full driving licence and confidence driving a wheelchair‑accessible vehicle.
- Compassionate, patient, and genuinely committed to supporting a young adult with complex physical needs.
Working Hours and Pay
10 hours per week, with flexible days and hours within weekdays. Pay: £17.00 per hour during weekdays; £34.00 per hour on bank holidays.

All posts are subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure with Adult and Child Workforce Barring. Full training will be provided.
