About The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Highways Technician to support the delivery of Lancashire County Council’s countywide highways maintenance service. This is a varied and rewarding role operating in a high-profile and sometimes politically sensitive environment, supporting the maintenance and enhancement of the highway network for residents, visitors and businesses across Lancashire.

You will be based at Singleton Depot, with regular travel across Fylde and Wyre to carry out site inspections, respond to customer enquiries, and plan and supervise highway maintenance works.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Inspecting the highway network in response to customer enquiries, defects and safety concerns
  • Planning, organising and supervising highways maintenance works and small improvement schemes
  • Supervising works on site and ensuring activities are delivered safely, on time and within budget
  • Liaising with contractors, colleagues and stakeholders to ensure high-quality outcomes
  • Providing a strong, professional customer-focused service
  • Supporting the effective delivery of the countywide maintenance programme

What We’re Looking For

  • Significant experience working within construction or civil engineering, ideally highways maintenance
  • Experience supervising works or small schemes on site
  • A strong focus on customer service, quality and safety
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
  • A full, valid driving licence, enabling you to drive a Lancashire County Council vehicle
