Housing Maintenance Carpentry Apprentice – 2 roles

Grade Apprentice Level 2: £25,948.96 per annum (pay award pending)

Role Numbers: SB218 & SB219

Term: Fixed Term up to 36 months from appointment – 37 Hours per week

Cannock Chase Council are seeking two apprentices to undertake a range of housing / property maintenance skills, for use in Council properties, specialising in carpentry but also incorporating a range of additional skills and resulting in a formal qualification within a maximum 36‑month period.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake a variety of housing and property maintenance tasks, with a focus on carpentry.
  • Work to develop a formal qualification within the apprenticeship period.
  • Apply knowledge of building construction and maintenance to everyday tasks.
  • Follow safety and quality standards in an outdoor working environment.
  • Work effectively as part of a team and deliver customer‑focused service.

Key Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Knowledge of and interest in building construction and maintenance.
  • Ideally relevant vocational experience in the carpentry trade.
  • GCSE Mathematics and English Language at Grade 4 or above, or equivalent academic experience.
  • Full clean driving licence, or ability to obtain one within two years of appointment.
  • Commitment to customer care, enthusiasm for learning, and the ability to work outdoors.
