Key Responsibilities

Assemble product ranges in line with production targets and quality standards

Identify and escalate quality issues to the Assembly Supervisor

Follow company procedures and comply with all Health & Safety requirements

Contribute ideas for process and operational improvements

Support team-based manufacturing activities to maintain efficient throughput

SMT Process Responsibilities

  • Screen Printing

Operate semi-automatic DEK screen printing equipment

Load stencils, apply solder paste, and manage PCB panels

Identify print quality defects and process issues

Operate stencil wash machines as required

Follow defined process control parameters and SOPs

  • SMT Machine Operation

Set up and operate Fuji surface mount placement machines

Load components into feeders and trays

Monitor machine operation and replenish components as required

Perform manual component placement where necessary

Conduct visual inspection of reflowed assemblies under magnification

Support fast product changeovers within a team environment

Carry out self-checks and buddy checks to ensure correct component placement

Understand and handle moisture and static-sensitive components

Complete production documentation, barcode scanning, and records

Communicate any process or production issues affecting performance

  • SPI & AOI

Operate and monitor SPI (Solder Paste Inspection) systems

Interpret inspection results and take appropriate action

Skills & Experience

Experience in electronics assembly, particularly SMT processes

Hands-on experience with:

Screen printing

Surface mount machines

Reflow processes

Strong understanding of SMT components and assembly procedures

Ability to maintain high-quality output in a fast-paced environment

Good attention to detail and ability to self-inspect work

Strong teamwork and communication skills

Experience with a range of SMT equipment

Awareness of 5S principles

Relevant technical qualifications (e.g. NVQ, diploma, or SMT training)

Ability to work under pressure while maintaining quality standards

Flexible and proactive approach to work

Comfortable standing for extended periods

Willingness to learn and develop within manufacturing processes
