Overview

Our client has a full-time vacancy for a Legal Assistant to provide an efficient support service to Solicitors within the Commercial Property department.

Responsibilities

  • Joining a busy and friendly commercial property team
  • Opening new files, sending initial letters to clients, and obtaining money on account
  • Undertaking anti‑money laundering searches and completing compliance documentation accordingly
  • General administration duties such as filing, sending faxes, emails, and closing files
  • Undertaking searches
  • Completion of SDLT and other forms at the direction of a solicitor
  • Completion of accounts paperwork for monies received and monies out
  • Typing
  • Taking telephone calls from clients, agents and third‑party solicitors and providing appropriate updates where necessary
  • Assisting with the paperwork/processes for completion
  • Sending post‑completion letters to relevant parties
  • Assisting with general office administration, including reception on a rota basis

Qualifications

  • Previous conveyancing experience – either residential or commercial
  • Good typing/keyboard skills
  • Background working in a property department – either residential or commercial
  • Familiar with general processes relating to property transactions and terminology used
  • Confident and capable when meeting clients face to face who drop into the office from time to time to collect or deliver paperwork
  • Confident telephone manner
  • Good organisational and administration skills
