Maintenance Technician

Location: Aylesbury

Job Purpose

To ensure the care home is safe, well‑maintained, and fully operational at all times, supporting a comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors through effective maintenance and upkeep of the building and facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance and minor repairs across the care home, including plumbing, basic electrics, decorating, and joinery.
• Ensure all areas of the home are clean, safe, and compliant with health and safety standards.
• Conduct regular checks and inspections of equipment, systems, and the building to identify and resolve issues promptly.
• Respond quickly to maintenance requests from staff to minimise disruption to residents.
• Maintain outdoor areas, including pathways, parking areas, and gardens where required.
• Support with room turnarounds, ensuring spaces are ready and safe for new residents.
• Keep accurate records of maintenance work, inspections, and any incidents.
• Liaise with external contractors when specialist repairs or servicing is required.
• Follow all health and safety procedures and ensure proper use of tools and equipment at all times.

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience in a maintenance or handyman role (care home or similar environment preferred).
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and general building maintenance.
• Good understanding of health and safety requirements.
• Reliable, proactive, and able to work independently.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, approachable manner when working around residents.
• Enhanced DBS check preferred.
