About the Role
We are seeking Academic/Student Support Workers across the UK, with urgent openings in Edinburgh, Exeter, Worcester, Birmingham, London, Bath, and Sussex. The role involves various types of support, such as:
- Practical Support: Assisting students with physical impairments in campus navigation, mobility, and orientation, including tasks like helping with wheelchairs, carrying equipment, and social support to facilitate access to student life.
- Library Support: Searching catalogues, retrieving materials, and assisting with library resources and study areas.
- Reader/Proofreader/Text Checker: Reading texts aloud, recording, and proofreading student work for errors.
- Study Assistant: Providing support during periods of need, helping with queries and reducing anxiety.
- Examination Support: Assisting during exams by reading questions aloud or recording answers.
- Guiding students with visual impairments: Providing mobility assistance on campus.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist students with health or mental health conditions.
- Use clear communication.
- Complete relevant training.
- Maintain punctuality.
- Represent Onyx Student Support professionally.
Requirements
No mandatory qualifications required. Experience in care, support, or education is preferable but not mandatory. Training will be provided.
