Job Introduction
As a Soft Services General Assistant, you will work closely with the Facilities Soft Services Team Leader and other facilities colleagues within the supportive Soft Services Team to provide domestic and catering services in a hospital environment.
This role is varied and dynamic, supporting the delivery of HCRG Care Group Community Services across Paulton Memorial Hospital and St Martins Community Hospital. Travel between sites is required.
A valid UK driving licence is essential due to company van driving. Sponsorship is not offered.

Main Responsibilities
- Cleaning: day‑to‑day cleaning of staff and public amenities, offices, meeting and training spaces, clinical outpatient and inpatient areas following NHS Cleaning Standard schedules.
- Ad hoc and periodic cleaning as per NHS standards, including high‑level cleans, carpet cleaning, rotary wash, external jet washing of pathways, bins and fleet vehicles.
- Reactive cleaning such as deep cleans, spills and leaks.
- Catering: ward kitchen food and drink service; cater block (St Martins) food preparation and management.
- Portering: stock control, goods in services, ward clean‑downs, transportation of equipment and supplies between sites using the company van.
The Ideal Candidate
- Relevant work procedures and experience at a basic theoretical level (essential).
- Completion of the in‑house facilities training programme within the agreed time frame (essential).
- Willingness to undertake NVQ Level 3 Food Hygiene if not already qualified, to perform duties in the catering block.
- Full clean driving licence and use of a car during working hours.
