Job Outline – P/T Personal Assistant/Support Worker

Post PT Personal Assistant/Support Worker to a gentleman in South Ayrshire

Posts: 6 hours per week

Days required: Tuesday evening and 1 other (flexible)

Salary: Living wage rate – £13.45 per hour

Job Purpose: To support a young gentleman to access and participate in a range of hobbies and interests, including accompanying and assisting as required.

Employer: You will be employed by the young man, who will be assisted to administer payroll and undertake the necessary employment support responsibilities by a relevant support organisation / payroll service.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the gentleman to engage in all aspects of community life and activities as directed.
  • Guide and access facilities and equipment, communicate, and maintain relationships with peers.
  • Drive and support the employer in travelling to various locations; require business use on your car insurance, a clean drivers licence and a road worthy car. Mileage will be reimbursed.
  • Training can be provided.

  • Relevant qualification(s).

  • Have supported people to achieve positive outcomes in their life.

Additional Requirements

  • Full clean UK driving licence.
  • Be reliable and flexible at times.
  • Possession of a clean, roadworthy car suitable for business use.

There is 5.6 weeks of annual leave attached to the post; you may be asked to use 2 weeks at the same time as the employer. If the person you support receives traditional respite, your leave may have to be taken at this time. Please discuss at interview.

There is also a 6‑month probationary period with 1‑week notice within this time if the post does not work out.

Successful applicants will have to undergo a new or updated PVG disclosure scheme prior to appointment and supply two up-to-date reference contacts, one of which should be a current or previous employer.
