Detached Youth Support Worker

We are here to support, promote and develop voluntary and community action in Middlesbrough.

Hours: 19 hours contracted per week with a minimum of three evenings per week.

Contract Type: Initially 18 months, intention to extend to permanent. Salary: £26,300 per annum pro rata (19 hours per week).

About the Role

We are looking for two Detached Youth Support Workers with experience of working within an informal environment to join our street-based teams. Full training will be given but we are seeking people with experience in working with vulnerable young people to engage them in developmental opportunities. We need motivated, engaging and committed individuals with a passion for supporting local children and young people and who enjoy learning new skills.

Responsibilities

Support and develop voluntary and community action in Middlesbrough. Engage with vulnerable young people within street-based teams, providing developmental opportunities, and building positive relationships, trust, self-belief and a sense of belonging. Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people; an enhanced DBS disclosure will be sought along with other relevant checks deemed appropriate.

Qualifications

Experience working with vulnerable young people in an informal or street-based setting. Ability to engage with young people and provide developmental support. Commitment to safeguarding and the welfare of children and young people.
