The Position

We are looking for an enthusiastic Community Mental Health Nurse to join our dynamic team. You will provide evidence‑based interventions to the Orkney community and work alongside nurses, psychiatrists, therapists, social workers and support workers.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments and manage care delivery within your caseload.
  • Participate in duty and out‑of‑hours rotas.
  • Assist with transfers to mainland Scotland and support staffing during the transfer period.

Qualifications

  • Substantial experience as a Community Mental Health Nurse.
  • Strong assessment skills and knowledge of trauma and psychological interventions.
  • Professional qualification and active registration with the NMC UK.

Location, Working Pattern and Contract Duration

Base: Vaenta

Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week (will pro‑rata 36 hours per week from 1 April 2026).

Contract: Permanent

Resident requirement: Must live and remain a resident within the UK.

Benefits and Salary

Salary: Band 6. If residing on Orkney, you’ll receive a Distant Islands Allowance of £1,657 pro rata per annum.
