Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is one of the UK’s fastest growing nature conservation organisations and seeks to appoint a Supporter Welcome Assistant.

The Supporter Welcome Assistant is responsible for telephoning new Yorkshire Wildlife Trust members within the first month of their membership to welcome them to our community, thank them for giving their support, and inspire and enable them to make the most of their new member benefits and deepen their engagement with the Trust and Yorkshire’s wildlife. For many members, the Supporter Welcome Assistant will be the first representative of the Trust that they come into contact with and will therefore be the voice of Yorkshire Wildlife Trust.

The role holder will need a good knowledge of the work of Yorkshire Wildlife Trust to answer any questions or issues raised by members and to make calls to supporters as required while keeping accurate records of all activities and feedback. You will also occasionally assist the Supporter Services Team in processing new memberships and donations and in maintaining the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database. In addition to this, there will be limited opportunities to work flexibly across the broader Supporter Engagement Team including supporting the development and delivery of our supporter retention events and activities.

Responsibilities

  • Telephoning new members within first month of membership to welcome and engage them
  • Responding to member queries and providing information about Trust activities and benefits
  • Accurate recording of all member interactions and feedback in CRM
  • Assisting Supporter Services Team with processing new memberships and donations
  • Supporting development and delivery of supporter retention events and activities across the broader Supporter Engagement Team (as needed)

Qualifications & Skills

  • Team player with passion for Yorkshire Wildlife Trust; strong desire to communicate this confidently and sensitively
  • Experience working in a customer‑focused role as part of a high‑performing team
  • Professional delivery of supporter care; able to work independently with minimum supervision
  • General knowledge and broad understanding of wildlife, nature conservation and environmental issues in the UK
  • Understanding of data protection legislation
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with an engaging telephone manner
  • Competence in office‑based computing software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and CRM systems
