Compensation
- Starting salary whilst training: £30,336
- After initial training (with shift allowance): £37,537.14
- Completed SKATE framework (with shift allowance): £38,126
About the Role
We are seeking to strengthen our skilled Port Operations team by recruiting an enthusiastic and committed Port Operator to work a constant weekend night shift pattern.
After your initial training period which will involve working Monday to Friday day shift (approximately 4 weeks), you will work 3 × 12 hour night shifts, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 33 hours per week.
Plant driving is a major part of the role, and you will be trained to drive port plant equipment including straddle carriers, forklifts and tugs.
Our working environment comprises warehouses, quaysides or the hold of ships. Your main duties will be loading and discharging ships and a range of other tasks associated with cargo handling, warehousing and distribution.
What we are looking for
- Some plant driving experience and a valid forklift truck licence.
- Good numeracy and basic IT skills.
- Previous shift working experience is preferred due to the night shift requirements of this role.
- Availability to work regular overtime to align with the dynamic operational demands.
- A full driving licence, valid in the UK, and meet Group 2 driver medical fitness standards.
- Right to work in the UK.
