Behaviour Support Assistant – Alternative Provision – Portsmouth
A specialist alternative provision in Portsmouth is seeking a Behaviour Support Assistant to support pupils who require a more tailored approach to education.
The setting works with students who may have struggled in mainstream environments and need additional support with behaviour, engagement and emotional regulation.
This is a hands-on role where building trust and consistency is essential.
You will be:
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and within small classes
- Helping manage behaviour using a calm and consistent approach
- Supporting students to re-engage with learning
- Working alongside teaching and pastoral teams
The school has a strong support network in place, with experienced staff and clear behaviour systems.

Requirements:
- Experience with SEMH, behaviour or youth work preferred
- DBS on the Update Service
- Up-to-date safeguarding training
