Maintenance Assistant

As a multi-skilled Maintenance Assistant, you work within the “heart of the house” and use your proficiency and flair to keep the iconic Grand Hotel to the high standard befitting such a landmark.
Utilising your core skill sets of carpentry, plumbing, painting & decorating you will support the maintenance department with all proactive and reactive up‑keep of this beautiful property, including bedrooms & all public areas spaces.
£27,894 per annum – working 40 hours over 5 days
Shift patterns will include weekend work ranging from 08:00‑16:00 / 09:00‑17:30 / 12:00‑20:00
What the role will involve
- Perform routine building maintenance duties, including plumbing, carpentry, minor electrical repairs, heating and ventilation system maintenance and occasional painting and decorating to assist our dedicated P&D team.
- Promote inter‑departmental working relationships, working closely with the Rooms Division & F&B teams.
- Welcome and respond to all colleague and guest requests for maintenance assistance in a timely manner with a can‑do attitude.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues relevant to the maintenance department.
- Manage and complete PPM schedules alongside daily, weekly and monthly checklists using an internal compliance system.
- Operate machinery with care and caution and use chemical products correctly as trained.
- Shared pride and ownership of hotel security and compliance.
What you can bring to the role
- Must have experience in a similar maintenance assistant role; experience in a hotel is beneficial but not essential.
- Painting and decorating skills are desirable.
- Promote a proactive and positive attitude and display the ability to ‘make things happen’ to achieve or exceed anticipated results.
- Strong organisational, time‑management and communication skills.
- Be fully flexible in your approach to work and able to work shift patterns through weekdays and weekends inclusive.
